Serendipitous Morning in the Sunflowers (Part 1/2)

I’ve always loved a good flower field - so much so, in fact, that I tried to plant my own this year (the deer ate it, I was sad, it was a whole thing). After the deer had their first huge feast on my flower field, I said goodbye to those photo goals for this summer. …Until Keri ‘called.’ And she loves sunflowers too! And then my friend Tami just happened to casually mention her (ridiculously amazing) sunflower field (that apparently deer don’t eat like a salad bar). And…Serendipity. I got to spend a morning playing in the sunflower field with the most loveliest & funnest folks!

An Annual Portrait Tradition

There is this extra cozy feeling I get when I get to see my annual clients; it’s one of the best feelings ever.
Seeing (like taking my time and really seeing) someone once a year is such a unique (and seriously cool) experience. The “little” changes never feel little when they hit you all at once.
This job is a front row seat to how quickly life changes, and it’s my favorite thing to learn & appreciate over and over again.
I get together with the Hess family every year at about this time. As I was taking a quick little walk down memory lane, I had to make some collages of the “over the years” so that you all could enjoy the reality check of time (and Miss M) flying too.
Dear Hess Fam - I truly enjoy our flower adventures and post shoot selfies together. Watching your family grow up is really fun. I think it’s really amazing that you (the Emily in these photos) take the time and energy to include your extended family members in your portraits. I can’t wait to try to keep up with Miss M next year.
